Initial Wildfire Risk Inspection

A comprehensive, science-based wildfire mitigation inspection conducted by a Flashpoint Home Protection Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (WMS).

This service is designed to identify structural vulnerabilities, ember intrusion pathways, and defensible space concerns so you can take informed, practical steps to better protect your home.

What’s Included

During your inspection, we evaluate:

  • Home Construction and Exterior Materials

Roof coverings, vents, eaves, soffits, siding, windows, doors, decks, fencing, and structural attachments that may be vulnerable during a wildfire event.

  • Ember Exposure and Ignition Pathways

Gaps, penetrations, rooflines, vents, and design features that can trap or admit embers — one of the most common causes of home ignition during wind-driven fires.

  • Defensible Space and Vegetation

Landscaping, trees, shrubs, ground cover, mulch, and combustible materials within critical zones surrounding the structure.

  • Property Layout and Fire Behavior Factors

Slope, terrain, access, setbacks, and environmental features that influence fire spread, radiant heat exposure, and ember accumulation.

Drone-assisted imaging may be utilized when necessary to safely document elevated or hard-to-reach areas.

After the Inspection

Following the site visit, you will receive:

  • A detailed, photo-documented inspection report

  • Clear, prioritized wildfire mitigation recommendations

  • Practical home-hardening guidance tailored to your property

  • A professionally mailed hard copy of your report for permanent records

Your recommendations are informed by nationally recognized wildfire research and principles, including guidance from NFPA, CAL FIRE, and the UL Fire Safety Research Institute.

You will also receive a 20–30 minute follow-up phone consultation with your Wildfire Mitigation Specialist after reviewing your report. This conversation allows you to:

  • Clarify key findings

  • Understand mitigation priorities

  • Ask property-specific questions

  • Discuss next steps with confidence

Your recommendations are designed to help you:

  • Understand your home’s wildfire exposure profile

  • Take meaningful steps to reduce ignition potential

  • Plan improvements immediately or over time

  • Work more effectively with contractors or insurers
